Achillea - Yarrow

Delicate, fern-like foliage with flat terminal flower heads. Flowers are long-lasting and excellent for cutting. Plants are drought tolerant and thrive in poor, dry soils. Good for summer color in the mid-border area.

Aconitum - Monkshood

Upright plants with thick, leathery leaves. Attractive helmet-shaped flowers on tall stalks. Excellent cut flower. Prefers moist, partially shaded areas. Blooms mid to late summer. All plants parts are poisonous. Note: Plant 2 roots per gallon for fuller pots.

Aegopodium - Snow-on-the-Mountain

Rapid growing and spreading ground cover. Grows where other plants may have difficulty growing. Tolerates full sun to full shade.

Agastache - Anise Hyssop

Aromatic plants that are drought tolerant and heat resistant. Blooms mid to late summer with an exceptionally long bloom time. Requires well-drained soil.

Ajuga - Bugleweed

Rapid growing and easy to maintain. Grows well under trees where other plants may have difficulty. Blue flowers bloom on short spikes in early spring.

Akebia - Five Leaf Akebia

A more manageable vine that grows only to the size of its support structure. Very twining habit. Good for growing on a fence or wall.

Alcea - Hollyhock

Tall stately plants. Mostly biennial or short-lived perennial, mostly re-seeding itself. Plant near the back of the border or along walls or fences. Blooms in summer.

Alchemilla - Lady's Mantle

Low-growing ground cover. Chartreuse flowers bloom late spring to early summer and are often used as filler in bouquets. Tolerates full sun to full shade and prefers moist areas.

Allium - Nodding Onion

Small clumping perennial for the sunny border with flower clusters on tall stems. Prefers good loamy well-drained soil. Very drought tolerant.

Ampelopsis - Porcelain Berry

Medium lenght vine with self-clinging tendrils. Requires no support.

Amsonia - Blue Star

Native clump-forming perennial found along the woodlands edge or river banks. Spectacular spring bloom with clusters of 5-petaled star-shaped flowers. Grows from semi-woody rootstocks. Prefers loamy well-drained soil.

Anemone - Japanese Anemone

Superb perennial for late summer and autumn color. Plants grow best in moist, well-drained soil. Plant in mass near the back of the border for spectacular fall color.

Aquilegia - Columbine

Attractive clumps of delicate foliage with sprays of colorful, nodding flowers. Plants prefer moist, well-drained soil and grow best in partial shade. Columbines are not particularly long-lived, especially if kept too wet. Blooms late spring to early summer.

Arabis - Rock Cress

Small, spreading mounds with spectacular spring bloom. Prefers cool climates and tolerates drought conditions. Excellent for use as edging or in rock gardens.

Armeria - Sea Thrift

Small, attractive mounds of tufted evergreen, grass-like leaves, very floriferous in spring and early summer. Plants are salt tolerant and are often grown along the coastline. Excellent for use as edging or in rock gardens.

Artemisia - Wormwood

These perennials are grown mostly for their colorful, ornamental foliage. Most are very drought tolerant and prefer well-drained, more alkaline soils.

Aruncus - Goat's Beard

Plants and flowers resemble those of Astilbe. They prefer moist soil with partial to full shade. Tall, open plumes bloom early summer.

Asarum - Ginger

Wildflower that performs equally well in the shaded garden. Grown for its foliage as the flowers are rather inconspicuous.

Asclepias - Butterfly Flower

Prized perennial for attracting butterflies. Flowers are long lasting and bloom early to mid-summer. Plants do not like to be transplanted and should be allowed to "naturalize".

Asiatic Lily - 

Lilies are very hardy perennials and multiply year after year when planted in the garden. They are available in a wide selection of colors, heights, bloom time, and flower shapes. Extend your selling season by ordering with multiple ship dates and having them in bloom spring thru fall. Grow lilies at 55-60" F night temperatures. Plant bulbs near the bottom of the container. Lilies develop roots along the stem and need 3-4"of soil above the bulb to develop properly. Keep evenly moist.

Asiatic Lily Double - 

Double asiatic lilies are unique in that they do not produce pollen.  Their anthers have been replaced with petals, creating a double flower and no pollen.  Doubles have an exceptional long bloom time in the garden.

Asiatic Pot Lily -

Asiatic Pot Lily Tango Passion - 

From "The Originals" series, these are new exciting tow-tone hybrids selected for pot plant production.  Most have dramatic spotted centers similar to the "Tango" series but are shorter.  They perform equally as well in the garden.

Aster - Hardy Aster

Valued for their late summer and fall floral display. Plant in mass for best effect or interplant among other perennials.

Astilbe - False Spirea

Astilbe produce large plumes in various sizes and shapes. Each plume consists of hundreds of tiny flowers, each opening in succession, providing a long season of bloom. Plumes make excellent fresh cuts or for drying in natural bouquets. Astilbe grow best in moist soils and semi-shade. Will tolerate more sun with adequate moisture. Excellent for the woodland garden. Plant in mass for a stunning display.

Plant: Plant eyes 1/2" below soil surface and spread fibrous roots throughout soil to facilitate quicker growth. Gently pack soil to reduce air pockets and soil settling.

Grow: Grow cool, 55 - 60F, for best growth. In early spring, and with adequate moisture, Astilbe can be grown in full sun. For late spring and early summer crops when light intensities are high and when temperatures exceed 65 - 70F, it is best to grow Astilbe under 30% shade.

Water: Water immediately and keep Astilbe moist at all times. As shoots and foliage appear, increase water frequency. If pots dry out, the foliage will crinkle and turn brown.

Arendsii Astilbe: This group comprises some of the oldest and original hybridized varieties, yet they remain some of the more popular in production. Generally taller varieties and early blooming, which make them well-suited for larger container production.

Chinensis Astilbe: This group is often the last Astilbe to bloom. Plants are generally more hear and drought tolerant, lending themselves to areas where other Astilbe fair poorly. Foliage is mostly coarsely textured and stems are thick and sturdy. Heights are varied from the shortest to the tallest but flower plumes are mostly narrow and upright.

Japonica: This group generally blooms early and plants are a bit more compact. Foliage is mostly glossy green with pyramidal-shaped flower plumes. Excellent for pot plant production.

Simplicifolia: Slower growing and more compact with glossy foliage. Generally bloom late season with delicate, open panicles. These types will often rebloom.

Astrantia - Masterwort

Wonderful woodland plant prefering moist, shady areas rich in organic matter. Excellent for the shady perennial border or for naturalizing along a stream. Plants bloom early to late summer on tall stems with rounded buttonhead flowers cupped with colorful star-shaped bracts. Astrantia are excellent cut flowers.

Athyrium - 

The Athyrium ferns add delightful lacy foliage to the shadows in the garden.Their foliage adds movement to the garden, swaying in the breezes. The finely divided fronds of ferns look especially nice next to large, solid leaves. They are all hardy, and thrive in the shade.

Aubretia - Purple Rock Cress

Low-growing spreading perennial that is ideal near the front of the border or in rock gardens. Prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Attracts butterflies.
